Humanatarian Award
Troy and Kathryn Eckard
Roy Maas' Youth Alternatives, Inc. has always recognized the significance of
excellence, leadership and noteworthy contribution from individuals or
groups that are consistent with our mission and goals. Roy Maas once said:
"People need three things in life to be happy: someone to love; something
constructive to do with their time; and something to look forward to."
As "key people" in the lives of the youth we serve, Youth Alternatives
strives to provide an environment where these things can occur. Youth
Alternatives is not just a place to help the children we serve learn how
cope with the terrible things that they have endured-RMYA is HOME to these
children, a place to feel safe and to heal.
The Roy Maas Humanitarian Award was created to recognize truly outstanding
individuals for their service to Youth Alternatives and the children we
serve. We believe this is a wonderful way to honor the memory of Roy Maas
and his commitment to our programs and belief in our children. The Roy Maas
Humanitarian Award is presented to individuals, businesses, groups or
corporations that share the same vision and belief in our children that Roy
shared for others-true giving from the heart to improve the lives of others.
This award is reserved for individuals that have demonstrated significant
commitment and leadership, and is not necessarily awarded every year.
Troy and Kathryn Eckard serve as shining examples of the fact that we as
individuals can make a difference through our actions, thoughts and
contributions to our world. We commend them for their generosity and belief
in our children, and we are honored to name Troy and Kathryn as the
recipients of the 2008 Roy Maas Humanitarian Award.
The luncheon was held at the Ruth's Chris Steak House on March 5, 2009, and
as you can see from the pictures, the event was truly special. We are
grateful to everyone at Ruth's Chris Steak House for their ongoing support
and commitment to our children. As you can see from the pictures, the event
was truly special!
